How I Used One Simple Sticky Note to Nearly Triple My Business Growth

If you're here, you've likely received one of our special "My Priorities" sticky notes. It might seem like just another piece of stationery, but trust me—this little note has been a game-changer.

Here’s how it all started.

I was always busy—really busy—but not always in the right way. I was great at crossing things off my to-do list, but those things weren’t always the tasks that truly moved the needle. Instead, I found myself getting distracted 🐿️ or, worse, focusing on the easy wins, the tasks that fed my ego because I was already good at them.

The tough stuff? The challenges that really mattered? I’d sometimes push those aside, even though I knew deep down they were the key to taking my business to the next level.

One Sunday evening, I decided enough was enough. I needed a new approach, something simple but effective. I started writing down a short list of the top priorities for the upcoming week—just three things. I recorded those three items on a sticky note and placed it right on my monitor where I couldn’t ignore it.

Each week, when I made my Priorities list, I would review our progress toward our Quarterly Goals and choose the few actions that would have the most impact. This small act of intention made all the difference. Suddenly, I wasn’t getting lost in the "thick of thin things," as Steven Covey wisely put it. I was focused, I was deliberate, and the results? They were remarkable.

I noticed as momentum began to build, but I don’t think I truly realized how much of a difference it was really making. The business didn’t just grow—it almost tripled in that first year, all because I stayed laser-focused on the most important tasks.

But I didn’t stop there. I realized this strategy could be just as powerful on a daily basis. So, at the end of each day, I started jotting down the three key priorities for the next day on another sticky note. It was simple, it was quick, and it worked like magic. Day after day, I was hitting my goals, and the progress was undeniable.

Seeing how effective this was, I couldn’t keep it to myself. I started sharing the idea with my clients. Before long, prospects were asking for their own sticky notes, and that’s when I thought: “why not make this tool available to everyone?”

Could I design a sticky note that was both practical and powerful? The answer was yes. And that’s how our "My Priorities" sticky notes came to life.

The “My Priorities” sticky notes have become a bit of a metaphor for the work we do with our clients: simple, focused and intentional.
