Why Holding on to Old Skills Could Be Your Biggest Mistake

The skills that made you an amazing Founder are far less important as an Investor – and they might even block your success at the Investor level (and frankly, in the Builder and Executive stages as well).  

For example, your scrappy “I can do it all” skills as a Founder are the fastest path to overwhelm and burnout as a Builder. 

Likewise, your leadership focus on ‘delegation’ as a Builder must shift to ‘influence’ as an Innovator. 

And finally, the Talent Management that is so critical as an Builder and Innovator is simply not necessary at the Investor level.

6. Cultivate adaptability: Foster a growth mindset that views challenges as opportunities for development rather than insurmountable obstacles.

7. Balance old and new: While adapting to new roles, don't completely discard your past experiences. Find ways to leverage your unique background to bring fresh perspectives to your new position.
